Derek Smart and Alex Ciepley, formerly of The Cub Reporter, have joined with some other excellent writers to form a new baseball blogs network called Baseball Toaster. Derek and Alex's news Cubs blog is called Cub Town. They get off to a superb start today with Alex's interview of news Cubs broadcaster Len Kasper. As before, Kasper says all the right things. I'm really looking forward to listening him call games this season.

MLB.com reports: "[Kerry] Wood has bursitis and some inflammation in his right shoulder, and will be shut down this weekend before resuming his throwing program. Wood left Wednesday's start early because of tightness in his right shoulder, and underwent an MRI later that day to pinpoint what was wrong. He then flew to Chicago on Thursday to be examined by the team orthopedist, Dr. Stephen Gryzlo, who confirmed the earlier diagnosis."
