No, I don't have photos of an umpire's view of the Cubs, but I did chat with an umpire today at church. He's not a MLB ump, but I thought he'd be a good person to ask about the Cubs since as an umpire he would notice things in their game that I might've missed.

Anyway, I asked him what he thought was the Cub's problem this year. His answer was "bad base running". He didn't mention injuries or relief pitching or whatever the issue of the day has been. They just need to implement smarter baserunning.

When I was on vacation earlier this year I met a former minor league umpire and talked baseball with him. He explained why it is more difficult to make use of Jose Cardenal's hidden ball trick due to updated rules than it was in the past.

So I've had the chance to chat with two umpires this year. Imagine that!
