Google search of Chicago Cubs webpages from 2001

To celebrate their 10th Birthday, Google is offering searches from their oldest available index, January 2001.

In addition they have links to archived pages from that era, so you can actually see what cubs.com , etc. looked like back then.

I really enjoyed the old cubs.com back when the Cubs actually ran it instead of the MLB folks. Here's the oldest archive I found of cubs.com.

In the pre-MLB.com days, cubs.com had some kewl fan friendly features. One of my favorites was a webcam at Wrigley that the web surfer could control. Pan left, right, zoom, - it was fun. I miss that.

Some things for Hendry to think about in the offseason

I agree with Paul Sullivan's article in this morning's Tribune for the most part. I just don't see how the Cubs don't bring back Dempster and Woody. I also think it would be a mistake to bring back Edmonds and Ward. Bringing them back would tell me that this organization has learned nothing from the past.

Cubs at the crossroads

The Cubs will move several player sthis winter. Look for Soriano, Cotts, Howry, Edmonds and others to be gone.

2008...It really was a fun year for Cubs fans

You know, it really was a fun year for Cubs fans. I can't believe how fast the summer went by. Time flies when your team is winning...and the Cubs won a lot this year. What was it? 97 games...and we only got to see 161 games because they didn't need to play that game #162. Any chance they could play it now, because I'm not ready to see the season end yet...

Some random thoughts...

It seems like if the MLB can slime the Cubs in some way for the playoffs, they will. Some folks feel that there are folks who don't want the Cubs to win a World Series because of the tradition of it and the attention in brings to major league baseball.

After the Cubs lost the third playoff game vs the Dodgers, did you cry?

Chicago Cubs 2009 schedule is now available

Wow! Does the next year's schedule usually show up so soon?

I found it on cubs.com here.

TV listings for Chicago Cubs fans - October 2008

I'm not finding programs via keyword "Cubs" via the Tivo and Comcast cable websites. So I'll have to find them elsewhere.

Today they had a program titled "Windy City Playoff Preview Special". I'm hoping they'll reair it.

Here is their schedule for the 2008 Postseason games.

Do Cubs fans want to see a Cubs vs White Sox World Series?

Bill Murray is NOT a true fan

So what's up with Bill Murray? He pretends he's a die-hard Cubs fan but did you see him on tonight's fancam at the Mets game. WHERE'S THE CUBS CAP??

Best Wrigley SRO Location????

OK.... I was lucky enough to score 2 tix for the first playoff game on 10/1. Unfortunately, standing room only was the best I could do. I've been to many games at Wrigley but never SRO. What is the best location to stand?

This is The Cubs Year It's Time CENTURYPEAT!!

I am confident. After years of waiting.
This will be the year. With Lou's guidance the North side will get the

What do you think had the most effect on Carlos Zambrano's pitching results during the Sept 19 game vs the Cardinals?

GEO!

capt_9ca12e91ba934a0fa6e7525854c4d560_brewers_cubs_baseball_cxc122Now that's a comeback.

Down by four with two outs in the 9th and no one on, Ryan Braun gave the Cubs life. No one's idea of a stellar fielder, Braun looked less than stellar in trying to shoestring Aramis Ramirez's line drive into rightfield, turning it into a double. Then a bouncer up the middle for Jim Edmonds, scoring Ramirez. Then a base hit to right for Mark DeRosa.

Then, the electric moment. Salomon Torres' first pitch to Geovany Soto landed deep in the leftfield bleachers, tying the game.

Here is the video of Soto's game-tying three-run shot.

Three innings later, Derrek Lee drove in the winning run. Here is the video of Lee's hit.

Cue "Go Cubs Go."

The magic number is down to 2.

This is the year.
