Idea for location of new Wrigley Field

I'm not a superstitious person, but I have noticed that the Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series in their "new" ballpark, which was built on the site of the former Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary.

When they played at their previous location, they were involved in World Series Championship series in 1906, 1907, 1908 and 1910 and were World Series Champions in two of those years.

After moving to their current location...yeah, you know the story.

Anyway, I had an idea.

Some weird Chicago Cubs Tivo listings today

Some weird Chicago Cubs Tivo listings today.

1. Ever since "Next Year is Here" aired on opening day on WGN at 12:30pm on a Thursday, I'm getting a "Cubs special" listing for that time slot on Thursdays.

2. Today's Cubs/Cardinals game didn't show up in the Tivo search I have set up. It did show up when I looked up 1pm on WGN. The search is set up for something like Sports / Baseball / Cubs.

3. WGN's Lead Off Man and 10th Inning show are now called something else. I'm concerned that the name (something like MLB Pre game / Post game show) will be less unique are more difficult to sort out just the Cubs related programs.

Its hard enough trying to track down where the next Chicago Cubs game will air, why are they trying to make it even more difficult?

Where do baseball players go when they die?

I ran across this webpage today regarding the locations of deceased baseball players graves and other related info.

• The number of years played in the major leagues and the primary position played
• The number of years as a field manager, if applicable
• Hall of Fame indication
• Date and place of birth
• Date and place of death
• Military Service, when fou

Tales of catching a baseball at the Cubs ballpark ... 1905

"Go back to 1905, when a Cubs fan named Samuel Scott was arrested after catching a foul ball but refusing to hand it to an usher. The team president signed a larceny complaint against him. The charges were dropped with Scott threatened to sue for assault and false arrest. Eventually, Cubs owner Charles Weeghman allowed foul balls to be kept. In 1916. It was lauded in Baseball magazine as a "common-sense policy," even if other owners refused to go along with it."

Ron Santo voted in to Baseball's Hall of Fame !

Woo hoo! Ron Santo has been voted into Baseball's Hall of Fame.

Sadly, one year and two days after he passed on.

I was thinking that if Ron Santo's ashes were still in an urn, they could bring that with to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. I'm guessing thats not going to be possible. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/pos...

I think this is pretty much the best Ron Santo audio/video files page. Check it out at: http://www.wgnradio.com/sports/baseball/...

Free agents for Spring 2012

Looking thru this list of Free agents for Spring 2012 I see a lot of former Chicago Cubs players.

http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/06/free-agent-position-players.html

The one that caught my attention was Derrek Lee.
I was at the 14-3 game vs the Marlins where he hit two home runs for the Cubs. Oddly enough, a friend of mine caught one of those home run balls...Derrek Lee's 200th home run!

My photos of Derrek Lee from that game.

Movies about the Chicago Cubs

This month I watched three different movies with a Chicago Cubs theme. I'm rather surprised that WGN or Comcast...or even ESPN haven't aired these three movies. Hey, there's no pro basketball these days, may as well entertain ALL those Cubs fans out there...

If you're a serious Cubs fan, you'll want to watch all three of these movies.
