Cubs Trade Wellemeyer to Marlins

The Chicago Cubs opened up Wade Miller's spot on the 40-man roster today. As diana noted in the comments section to this post, the Cubs traded Todd Wellemeyer to the Florida Marlins for pitchers Lincoln Holdzkom and Zach McCormack.

Holdzkom is a 24-year-old right-handed reliever who has never pitched above A-ball. Holdzkom was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery last year and only pitched 13.1 innings. He has a career 3.02 ERA in A-ball, in 113 innings, with 145 K's and 68 BB's. This page says he's never allowed a home run, but it's possible his home run stats just are not up-to-date.

The Cubs press release says that McCormack is a 24-year-old left-handed reliever who had a 4.61 ERA in 26 games in A-ball last year. (Neither ChicagoSports.com's player index nor The Baseball Cube had a page for McCormack.)
