Pinto throws balls for someone else now and Patterson can still hit.

Iowa loses 8-4. Renyel Pinto still can't throw strikes in triple-A. Pinto, now pitching for the Marlins' triple-A affiliate following the Juan Pierre trade, walked 7 in 3.2 innings against Iowa and threw 3 wild pitches, though he ended up allowing just 3 runs. Jae-kuk Ryu pitched well in his season debut, throwing 5 innings of 1 run ball. But Bobby Brownlie came on in relief and promtply allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 0.2 innings. Second baseman Ryan Theriot was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks.

West Tenn wins 6-3. Second baseman Eric Patterson picked up right where he left off last season, going 3-4 with a triple and a walk. Rocky Cherry pitched 2 scoreless and hitless relief innings to pick up the win.

Daytona lost 9-4. Pitchers Justin Berg, Matt Weber, and Angelo Burrows all gave up at least as many runs as they pitched, so nothing to hype on that end. Centerfielder Sam Fuld homered and shortstop Joe Simokaitis went 3-3 with a walk.

Peoria lost 4-2. A disappointing season debut for Donald Veal, who allowed 4 runs in 3.1 innings on 2 hits (1 a homer) and 6 walks. Catcher Mark Reed and first baseman Ryan Norwood each had 3 hits.
