A Special Substitute

Cub southpaw and 2004 hero Glendon Rusch has been less then stellar thusfar in his Spring Training starts... until Wood was scratched from his start Thursday.

Glendon was called in to fill in, and how did he handle it? Five shutout innings.

If Dempster can build up Rotation-level endurance, maybe Rusch's mentality really IS better as a swing-man and spotstarter.

As for Dempster, I'm not worried about him building up rotation-level endurance. I think he'll get there. I'm worried about whether he's good enough to want to throw out there for so many innings.
