Guzman gets hit; Deardorff homers again; & Cherry and Rapada continue to dominate in the pen at West Tenn.

Iowa lost 6-4. Angel Guzman got hit tonight. He didn't walk anyone and struck out 8 in 5.1 innings, but allowed 6 runs on 7 hits, including 1 homer. Jeff Deardorff homered for the second straight game. He played first base in place of Brandon Sing, who's hitting just .185, without a homer, so far in the young season.

West Tenn won 7-6 in 12 innings. Rocky Cherry and Clay Rapada threw a combined 4 scoreless innings to close the game. The two have now combined for 16 shutout innings this year. Eric Patterson went 4-5 with a double and a triple and Luis Montanez added 2 doubles of his own. Richard Lewis saw more time in the outfield.

Daytona lost 9-4. Daytona pitchers walked 7 and allowed 2 homers. Reliever Matt Weber allowed 5 runs in 3.2 innings.

Peoria won 6-4. Starting pitcher Jesus Yepez threw 5 innings of 1 run ball and now has a 1.64 ERA through his first two starts. Ryan Norwood went 4-4 with a double.
