Derrek Lee Out 2-3 Months With Fractured Wrist

An average -- at best -- offense lost its best player for 2-3 months. This was a bad season for Brandon Sing to open up cold at Iowa. After having 13 total bases in 16 at-bats this spring, following a .276/.404/.538 year last season at double-A West Tenn, Sing looked like acceptable insurance. But he's started this year at Iowa hitting .200/.319/.275 coming into tonight's game, in which he went 1-for-3 with a double and walk. He has also struck out 15 times in 40 at-bats.

Mastrick at View From the Bleachers comes up with the creative idea of moving Matt Murton to first base and inserting Felix Pie in left field. But it's a bit much to just throw Murton in to the infield. Arizona Phil at The Cub Reporter reports instead that it appears that the Cubs are set up call up Michael Restovich from Iowa. If so, someone is going to have to be placed on the 60-day DL, as the 40-man roster is otherwise full. As Phil notes, Restovich played first a bit during the spring, but hadn't played the position before then since high school. The first basemen are thus likely to be Todd Walker and John Mabry.
