Minor League Roundup 4-20-2006

Hill pitches OK, but the call-ups of Novoa and Aardsma show effect; Rapada finally allows a run; & Johnson throws 7 zeros.

Iowa lost 6-5. Rich Hill allowed 2 runs (1 unearned) in 6 innings. Unfortunately for Iowa, without Roberto Novoa and David Aardsma, the ICubs no longer have a closer. Andrew Shipman allowed 3 runs in 1.2 innings to blow the save. Felix Pie hit his 4th triple of the year.

West Tenn lost 4-2. Reliever Clay Rapada gave up his first two runs of the year, in the 9th inning, to take the loss. Prior to that, Juan Mateo had thrown 6 innings of 1 run ball

Daytona won 3-1. Grant Johnson allowed just 4 hits in 7 shutout innings, striking out 4, lowering his ERA to 3.00.

Peoria lost 9-8. The Chiefs' bullpen allowed 7 runs in the 7th inning to lose it. Centerfielder Davy Gregg went 4-6 with a double, moving his average to .294.
