The Tribune Co. announced today that it plans to sell at least $500 million in "certain noncore broadcasting and publishing assets as well as real estate and securities in six to 12 months," reports the Wall Street Journal. Ivy Chat and 1060west see this as a sign of a possible sale of the Chicago Cubs. However, Tribune Chairman and Chief Executive Dennis FitzSimons reiterated in a conference call today, according to the WSJ, that the Cubs are not on the block.
