The Shame of Chicago?
I thought the fact the White Sox won the World Series last year was a good thing for Cubs fans. I thought the pressure to win would be at an all-time high, thus the Cubs would shore up the clear holes with their team. Kudos to Jim Hendry for addressing the lead-off position with Juan Pierre. Though his stats are not great, I think he was the best available option. Bobby Howry and Scott Eyre have been great. But how could you not address the starting pitching with two injury prone guys at the top of your rotation? Think of how great Kenny Rogers would've been in a Cubs uniform. A free agent that Texas was dying to let go. There are more names that wouldn't have cost us an (arm, pardon the punn) and a leg. Why not a more bold move like Ichiro from Seattle? They were talking about getting rid of him two years ago. Something tells me that if the Cardinals wanted a quality outfielder, they would've got him. Remember Scott Rolen. Nobody in their right mind would get rid of a young golden glove, power hitting third baseman with many years ahead of him. Sounded crazy, but the Redbirds pulled it off! What about Dontrelle Willis? At the beginning of the year why not put some sort of package of young players together to add a quality hard to find Lefty in your rotation. It's only fitting since we drafted and developed him, that we get him back. The Tribune is supposed to be a big, creative thinking corporation. Is there anyone up there creative enough to put the pieces together?
It's clear that more fans are jumping on the Sox wagon, and why not. Any holes they had were taken care of by Kenny Williams. It would have been easy to stand pat, but he didn't. Now I must hear the wrath of all my Sox buddies and basically crawl under a rock and hide or continue to hear it. Yes, it's possible with Derrik Lee coming back in June and Mark Prior, perhaps Wade Miller, and the recent encouraging return of Kerry Wood, this might get the Cubs on track for the second half. That is spoken like an eternally optimistic Cubs fan that we all have been forced to become over the years. My heart however, tells me the season is over. Mark Cuban please HELP!!!!!!!!!

Blackhawks
You obviously don't know much about Chicago pro sports because as bad as the Cubs are, the Blackhawks have them beat by a country mile when it comes to being an embarrassment to the city.
Also, if Juan Pierre is your idea of a good lead off hitter and Mark Cuban your ideal team owner, then you don't know much about sports, period. As for the Tribune being a "creative" outfit, where did you get that idea?
Cuban
Hey now, there are good things to be said about Mark Cuban as a team owner. Some months ago I ran them down. My feelings haven't changed since that time.
What Has Cuban Won?
How many championships have Cuban's teams won? Compare that to the number of championships that Jerry Reinsdorf's teams and the Chicago Bears under the ownership of the late George S. Halas won. Cuban is a blowhard and clueless to boot. There is no way that MLB would ever approve a sale of a MLB team to Cuban.

Well, there's no question that you have a point there.
As for what he's won ... I hardly consider that a serious question. The man's in his fifth full season of owning a team. As the Mavericks are in their second conference finals during his ownership, he's won more than Reinsdorf did in his five years with the Bulls.
The comparison to Halas is just silly, like saying that Derrek Lee is useless because he's no Babe Ruth.
