Zambrano Loses No-Hitter in 8th Inning

There's no reason to get excited about a possible no-hitter until the 7th inning, after which the pitcher just has to get through the lineup one more time. Well, for the second time in three starts, Carlos Zambrano tonight will soon be entering the 7th inning with a no-hitter intact. The Cubs have given him plenty of runs -- 8, including Zambrano himself hitting a 3-run homer in the 2nd innings -- so if and when Zambrano gives up a hit, there's little reason to have Zambrano stay in much past 100 pitches.

UPDATE: A Preston Wilson ground ball through the right side of the infield ended the no-hitter with 1 out in the 8th inning.
