Yosh Kawano retires from Wrigley Clubhouse

Yosh was nice to me when I was attending Cubs games in the 70's.
I noticed that he was shown in the Wrigley Field stands on opening day 2008 instead of in a clubhouse or dugout.

I got the impression from others who've mentioned it that Yosh had incredible job security...probably a notch below the Wrigley's when they owned the team. I suspect that the Yosh clause does exist, but perhaps not in writing in the current collection of Wrigley Field archives.

Kawano, who turns 87 in June, was removed from his clubhouse duties over declining health, a decision that apparently came during spring training when Kawano spent two days in the hospital with a foot injury. The Cubs plan to keep him on the payroll and reassign him to a more symbolic position, and they plan to honor him before a game later in the season.

I found a page written in Japanese that spoke about Yosh and mentioned the above post.

Since I can't read Japanese, I visited the Babelfish Translator webpage and had it translate the page for me.
