The Chicago Cubs have promoted C Jon-Mark Sprowl and RHP Thomas Atlee from double-A West Tenn to triple-A Iowa.

Sprowl was originally a 1998 47th round draft pick by the Cubs, but has spent the past four seasons in the Diamondbacks' and Yankees' farm systems. Now 25, this year was the first time he had been above A-ball. He was hitting .233/.361/.267 in 30 at-bats and 8 walks for West Tenn.

Atlee is a 26-year-old multi-inning reliever who had a 1.67 ERA in 43 innings for West Tenn this year, with a 3.0 K/BB ratio.
