The Chicago Cubs promoted starting pitcher Sean Gallagher from high-A Daytona to AA West Tenn yesterday, reports Baseball America (hat tip: jonpyardi at Bleed Cubbie Blue). Gallagher won't turn 21 until the end of December, but he is rapidly progressing through the Cubs' system. He has a 2.30 ERA for Daytona this season, striking out 80 and walking just 21 in 78.1 innings. He was recently named to the Florida State League All-Star team. Gallagher made a name for himself last year by opening his season in Peoria with 40 straight shutout innings.
