Add RH relief pitcher Adalberto Mendez to the Florida State League All-Star Team, the Daytona Cubs' 5th All-Star, though Sean Gallagher won't participate after his recent call-up.

Something has clicked for Mendez this year, as he has posted a 0.68 ERA in 39.2 innings, with a 49/8 K/BB ratio. He also has not allowed a home run.

However, Mendez is 24 and is now in his 4th season of A-ball. Last year, Mendez had a 3.10 ERA in 29 innings for low-A Peoria and a 6.67 ERA in 28.1 innings for Daytona. His control has greatly improved. Last year, he walked 25 batters in those 28.1 Daytona innings.
