Williamson Returns, Soto Up; Womack and Aardsma Down; Marmol Will Start After All
Scott Williamson has returned from his DL stint, replacing David Aardsma in the bullpen, reports MLB.com. Also, the Cubs have called up C Geovany Soto, apparently because Henry Blanco had a sore neck and the Cubs were concerned that Phil Nevin would otherwise have to catch Carlos Zambrano in tonight's game if Blanco couldn't go. Blanco ended up playing. To make room for Soto, the Cubs optioned Tony Womack, who hasn't played since leaving Saturday's game with back spasms.
Williamson threw five innings for Iowa and one inning for Peoria during his rehab stint, allowing two runs.
Finally, apparently you can't believe everything you read in the Chicago Tribune, which had reported a few days ago that Angel Guzman would start Wednesday's game instead of Carlos Marmol. Instead, Marmol is going to stay in the rotation, according to the MLB.com article. Guzman remains in the bullpen, but hasn't pitched since a very good 5.1 innings out of the bullpen eleven days ago.

So what's the deal?
I know I'm not alone in the heartache section of Cubs fans, but can anyone tell me what in the world went down at Wrigley during the 9th inning meltdown? For once I'm not talking about Dempster's folly's (aka 'attempt at closing out a game') but everyone was scanning the first base line??? Any insight?
I'm curious too.
I don't know what was going on. Just before that happened someone's cub hat landed in right field. Maybe some fans started burning their Cubbie gear. It was that bad a performance by the Cubs.
