Samardzija Struggles in Debut

That didn't go quite as planned. The Idaho Statesmen reports:

Jeff Samardzija was upstaged in his much-anticipated professional baseball debut Tuesday night.

The right-hander struggled through two innings on the road and Northwest League West Division leader Salem-Keizer took advantage with a 6-1 victory.

The 6-foot-6 Samardzija threw 33 pitches — 20 for strikes — and allowed two earned runs on three hits and hit three batters.

Three hit batters in his first two professional innings, eh? Maybe it's part of an intimidation strategy.
