Hendry's future
Getting that extension before the season started was certainly a good move for Hendry.
After Dusty, what then?
Assuming that the Cubs let Mr. Baker go, they still have two huge problems: 1) getting the existing team to give its best effort, and 2) finding better players. Unfortunately, these guys are so "down", some of them may regard a ticket out of Chicago as not so bad a thing. They are going to need a very mature new manager who can put some perspective on things for the players, and coax them into a starting fresh in their minds and hearts.
