Bulls Trade Chandler for Brown and Smith

As indicated when they signed Ben Wallace, the Bulls have traded Tyson Chandler "to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets for power forward P.J. Brown and shooting guard J.R. Smith," reports the Chicago Tribune.

Chandler was gracious in departing. "I'm sad to leave a great organization. They gave me a great opportunity. Jerry Krause drafted me and John Paxson has been nothing but honest and loyal."

The move was ultimately about money. Chandler is going to be better than PJ Brown going forward, but he makes a lot of money. Moving Chandler allows the Bulls more flexibility in signing Kirk Hinrich and others to extensions.
