On Who is to Blame

A column on what is wrong with the Cubs appears today on ESPN.com. Gene Wojciechowski notes the blame is widespread. I certainly agree. Tell me, is there an acknowledged leader or set of "leaders" of the team? Why are there not more vocal expressions? Is anyone kicking butt? If so, it is not a visible process. And the sad saga continues.

blame all around

Yes, blame all around. But that doesn't change the fact that Baker too often doesn't put his team in the best chance to win and the fact that the Cubs too often display a lack of fundamentals.

I think there are leaders on the team -- Baker, Lee, Maddux. The problem isn't lack of leaders. The problems are 1) lack of talent and 2) underperformance of those with sufficient talent.

I agree w/ the writer:
it's time to quit with the friend/manager combination. Pats on the back are fine, but so are kicks in the rear.
