Official Wrigley Field photographer

Of course, you know it was always my dream to be the official Wrigley Field photographer. That hasn't happened, however one suburban writer had the chance to be the assistant to the OWFP for a day.

You can read Brad Spencer's story about that day here.

Mr. Loaf

Good find, Diana.

From the article: In the Cubs dugout Green talks 16-inch softball with singer Meat Loaf, who is on hand to throw out the first pitch.

Meat Loaf knows 16-inch softball? Who knew?

Sun-Times photographer hit by foul ball

Being a Wrigley Field photographer can be dangerous to your health:

[Sun-Times photographer Jon] Sall was shooting on the third-base side in the third inning and looked away to work on a photo when Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez hit a one-hopper that that struck him in the left rib cage.

It must have hit him hard, because he was taken to the hospital. He is in stable condition.

re: Sun-Times photographer hit by foul ball

I wonder who takes care of the injured photographer's camera gear while he's being cared for at the ballpark?

I used to photograph college football on the sidelines and a play came my way that I didn't get away from in time and I was knocked off my feet. On of the smaller players (a punter I think) lifted me back on my feet. I was airborne for a second. He lifted me too high at first. :)

Getting the e-mail invitation to go behind the scenes at one of baseball’s most famous yards to see how the pros do it was like a AAA player getting his first call to the show.
