Chiefs First Baseman Norwood Injures Ankle

"[F]irst baseman Ryan Norwood suffered a severe ankle sprain in an exhibition game against Bradley," reports the Peoria Star-Journal. "Norwood, the Chiefs' projected cleanup hitter, is on crutches and is expected to miss the first 6-8 weeks of the season."

Last year, Norwood hit .296/.327/.469 in 277 at-bats at short-season-A Boise after the Cubs drafted him in the 9th round out of East Carolina University. In his final year at East Carolina, Norwood hit .382/.438/.695.
