I Miss Robo-Prior

The Chicago Sun-Times' Greg Couch captures in his column today the feelings of many Cubs fans regarding Mark Prior following another disappointing performance yesterday:

Three years ago, there was a pitcher for the Cubs who was young, cold and stone-faced. He threw at hulking superstar Barry Bonds, who was held back from charging the mound. The pitcher walked toward Bonds, seemingly saying, ''Bring it on.''
. . . .
I miss that Mark Prior. There was a thrill in watching him, so methodically intimidating while not showing one bit of emotion or reaction. Strike three, sit down. Next.
. . . .
Now, you can barely remember that guy.
. . . .
When Prior goes on the DL, it seems less like the Disabled List than the Disinclined List. Does it ever really seem that he's not able?

It's always some confusing thing, something wacky.

''The goat's starting to look real,'' he said a few weeks ago.

Oh, please. Not the goat curse.

Prior has a 7.21 ERA 43.2 innings this season, allowing 28 walks, 8 hit batters, and 9 home runs.

Disinterested Prior

We were at Spring Training two years ago and Prior seemed to lack interest in playing. Last night he had the same look - as if to say, "I don't really care, win or lose." He isn't even a shadow of the old Prior.
