Griese Displays Class

Smith will stick with Grossman (Brad Biggs, Chicago Sun-Times, 8/26/2006)

Not only do you have to be admired by backup QB Brian Griese's performance this preseason, but also his class. After the third exhibition game in which Griese has outperformed Rex Grossman, Griese helps explain why their respective performances cannot be accurately compared:

"It's nice to go out and move the ball a little bit and score," he said. "But I have to admit that I'm going against, not me, but the whole second-team offense is going against second-team defenses, and they were very vanilla looks defensively.

"There was only one blitz I think the whole time we were out there. I would hesitate to make comparisons because I really believe I'm going against defensive guys who are learning how to play."

Griese eventually may take over as the #1 QB this season, but he's going to do it with class.
