Rosenthal: Padres May Go After Zito in Offseason

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports:

Imagine a 2007 Padres' rotation featuring twin aces, right-hander Jake Peavy and left-hander Barry Zito.

The Padres can.

The consensus around baseball is that Zito will land with either one of the New York teams or the Dodgers as a free agent.

The Padres, though, will try to lure the A's left-hander back to his hometown of San Diego, major-league sources tell FOXSports.com.

If the Cubs decide to make a play for Zito, they're going to have some serious competition.
