Tribune Co. Creates Committee to Oversee Options to Increase Shareholder Value

"Tribune Co.'s board voted to establish a special committee of independent directors to explore alternatives for 'creating additional value for shareholders,' opening the door for a sale of the company or a management buyout," reports the Wall Street Journal (Sarah Ellison and Julia Angwin, "Tribune Opens Door to Possible Sale," 9/22/2006). There is no mention in the article of a possible separate sale of the Chicago Cubs. However, if Tribune Co. itself were sold, who knows what would happen. Ivy Chat also comments.
