Let's Not Wait Too Long!!
Well we finally got rid of Dusty. Although the season record wasn't entirely all his fault I think he was too much of a "player's manager" and I don't know about you, but I had enough of the tooth picks and arm bands. With his dismissal, it is time to move on and see if we can get a Manager in there that can help turn around 2007. I can't keep "waiting till next year" much longer!!
What I don't understand is what are we waiting for? Surely Jim Hendry has known for some time he was going to make this move on Baker. wouldn't you think he would have already had a list of potential candidiates to fill the vacancy? Florida fired and hired a replacement in two days and I might add the replacement they chose was a rumored potential candidate for the Cubs Manager. Now I see Texas will be looking for a new manager, along with Washington and San Francisco.
What are we waiting for?? Lets get a new Manager in there before all the good potential prospects are hired by the competition. Not to mention he has got a big job ahead of him and needs all the time possible to evaluate this years team and the possible changes that need to be made in the off season.
P.S. Nothing against Bob Brenly, he did a fine job this season but I sure would like to see Stoney back in the booth. I hope that was part of the "dinner conversation".

Hendry's list

What makes you think that he doesn't? If he does, he's not likely to disclose it.

I have read where some believe it will be after the World Series before Hendry names a Manager.
My point is there is competition from other teams who are looking to replace a Manager. Lets expedite
the decision making process before the pool of good candidates dries up.
Expediting the process
Yes, that's definitely a valid consideration.
Thank you Phil Rogers

Thank you Phil Rogers of the Tribune for your article of 10-06, "Time for Hendry to take off kid gloves". You expressed my point exactly.
From the comments made by McDonough that the Manager needs to "get the Cubs", it seems to me that our only choice right now is Girardi. He's from Peoria, Il (strong Cubs territory), went to Northwestern, lived in Chicago and in fact was a Cub himself. If he doesn't "get the Cubs" who out there is better suited? I also like the fact that several of his coaches in Florida have also been Cubs. Also as Phil Rogers points out he is only in his 40's- which would provide some longevity at the helm, something we haven't had since Zimmer days.
In Pinella, I still see him wearing the Yankee pinstripes, waiting for Torre to retire as Manager. How could he possibly "get the Cubs"? And in his 60's, how long is he going to be there?
Jim Hendry- What Are We Waiting For?? The decision is up to you-Lets Make It!!
