Cubs sign Mark DeRosa
Sounds like Mark DeRosa is in the fold at this point... Great. Now the question becomes, is he a valuable late innings pinch hitter or a starting 2B? My guess (& preference) is that Jim Hendry/Lou Pinella now look to throw Cedeno in a trade package to either Toronto (for Vernon Wells) or more likely Tampa Bay (for Carl Crawford) That being said, Goodbye Ronny, hardly knew ya, won't miss ya. His free swinging, rally-killing ways, coupled w/ his poor decisions in the field will not be missed by this Cubs fan. I can't believe Lou P will put up w/ these kinds of fundamental mistakes that Cedeno cannot obviously overcome. Any deals to either AL club will require a Rich Hill/Mark Prior type to get it done... fine! 1 pitcher, Cedeno, & perhaps a Casey McGehee for Crawford or Wells? Done, where do we sign for that. Then we can focus on signing Ted Lilly and Jason Schmidt to complete the rotation. This gives the Cubs the impact bat they need (leadoff hitter w/ Crawford) and still allows the money to sign the 2 FA starters we need.
Go Lou!

Thanks for pointing this out. I've commented on this story here, and noted other commentary as well.
