Cubs Blog Roundup -- VI
A look at some good, recent writing from the Cubs Blog Army:
- Phil Bencomo of Cub Town writes of "Life, Baseball, And Cynicism." Specifically, as it relates to Mark Prior. We remember the greatness. We now see the futility. The result could be despair ("How times have changed," as Wrigleyville23 writes), or it could be continued hope.
- California Phil (no relation to The Cub Reporter's Arizona Phil) at A Hundred Next Years has an excellent rememberance of the 1984 spring training trade that brought Bob Dernier and Gary Matthews to the Cubs and the effect it had on that wonderful season.
- GoatRiders.org has a conversation on blogging and media with Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus, Paul Lukas of ESPN and his Uni Watch blog, Daily Herald journalist Bruce Miles, and Tribune writer Paul Sullivan. Nice to see Sullivan participate given the criticism he has often taken in among Cubs bloggers.
- CubsHub.com interviews Rocky Cherry and Donnie Veal. Veal comes across pretty humble.
- A guest columnist at The Cub Reporter discusses an organizational difference between the Cubs and the Atlanta Braves: many of the Braves' young stars never play a game in triple-A.
- Jonathan Pence has moved his Cubs' minor leaguers blog to Road to Wrigley. Be sure to bookmark it. Here's the updated Cubs Blog Army enlistment roster. Let me know if I am missing anyone.
