Good nights on offense all around, except for Daytona.
ICubs win 7-3. Lefty starter Jon Koronka threw 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and just 1 walk, while striking out 7. Will Ohman threw 2 perfect innings to close out the game, recording 4 strikeouts. Iowa had their biggest home run output of the year. Rightfielder David Kelton hit his 2nd homer of the year and third baseman Scott McClain and catcher Mark Johnson each hit their first. Second baseman Richard Lewis, trying to break out of his slow start to the year, went 1-2 with 2 walks.
West Tenn wins 7-3. Good offensive output from the middle of the order. Leftfielder Matt Murton went 4-5, third baseman Matt Craig went 3-4 with a walk, and first baseman Brandon Sing went 2-3 with a walk and a double. Starting pitcher Rocky Cherry went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, with 5 K's and 2 walks. Reliever Jon Searles threw 2 innings, striking out 4, to pick up the win.
Daytona loses 2-1. Starting pitcher Sean Marshall struggled with his control, leaving after 3 innings after he walked 5 batters. Reliver Randy Wells then pitched 5 shutout innings, but Daytona was unable to overcome a 2-0 deficit. First baseman Brian Dopirak had 3 hits, including a double.
Peoria wins 11-3. Leftfielder Luis Montanez homered, second baseman Eric Patterson continued to hit well with 3 hits, including a double, Ryan Harvey had 2 hits and first baseman Andrew Larsen drew 3 walks.
