Inside the Box Score: Reds 5, Cubs 2 -- 4/5/2007
Must be the after-effects of Dusty Baker, right? Alfonso Soriano was picked off first after a leadoff single in the 7th, then Ryan Theriot ran into a tag out between second and third on a ground ball to third later in the inning, in today's 5-2 loss to the Reds. Baserunning mistakes are deflating. Then, a wild pitch and a passed ball gave up the lead in the bottom half of the inning.
The Cubs have now scored 7 runs in 3 games, a less than electric start. It resembles last year's 15th ranked offense. The offense will be better. May it be so tomorrow.
Meanwhile, all you people who thought the Jason Marquis signing was "crazy," like this guy, were completely wrong. At least for now.

Marquis

True enough, although in that guy's defense, he only said that the Marquis signing was "a little" crazy. On the other hand, I can claim victory, as I pointed out in the same thread that Marquis's hitting has declined. And he continued to hit poorly today, going 0-3 with a strikeout.
So I was completely right. At least for now. :)
Marquis' hitting
You are right that you were right. Marquis has now gone 136 at-bats without hitting a home run. That is unacceptable. I want the Tribune's money back.
being right
On the other hand, honesty compels me to point out that I did call Ted Lilly's contract an "embarrassment". Man, did I live to regret that one or what? He's almost single-handedly kept the Cubs in the race so far.
