Piniella Tired of the Izturis / Cedeno Combo?

The Cubs have starting pitchers hitting better than shortstops Cesar Izturis and Ronny Cedeno. Lou Piniella has apparently had enough. Ryan Theriot is today's starter at short.

Theriot

This is a good idea as far as I'm concerned. If it were up to me, the regular lineup would be:

Murton, RF
Barrett, C
Lee, 1B
Ramirez, 3B
Soriano, LF
DeRosa, 2B
Pie, CF
Theriot, SS
Pitcher

That's a, uh, very right-handed lineup, but what can you do? I think it'd be pretty solid.

I too, would like to see

I too, would like to see Murton get more playing time ahead of Jones. And, I agree, Soriano should be hitting 5th. But there's no way that will happen.

How 'bout...

The Riot, SS
Soriano, LF
Lee, 1B
Ramirez, 3B
Barrett, C
DeRosa, 2B
Murton, RF
Pie, CF
Pitcher

Maybe that Sori is a little too aggressive for a number two slot... what does the Cub Nation think?

that'd work

That would work, too - I think the players are more important than the batting order, for the most part.

The reason I have Murton leading off is that his greatest skill is OBP, and so I think that that is the best way to take advantage of his talent. I know he's not going to rack up the stolen bases, but he's not so slow that he's a liability on the bases, either.
