Room For an Optimist...

For all the downtrodden rants about Hendry getting Burnitz after trading off Alou and the Sosakazi, there's still plenty of room for optimism. It seems to me that the cubs "may" be a more balanced offense now, especially if Corey can get his K's down, and all the other potential studs start hitting there stride, ala Barrett, Dubois. Think about it; Nomar healthy (fingers crossed), Prior and Wood healthy (all 10 fingers crossed, circulation to left thumb, nonexistant), the rest of the killer infield doing what they do...maybe those 35 or so homers that Burnitz hits will go for some RBI's this time, instead of the 80 Sammy put out. Sure, it would have been nice to have gotten a solid closer, or maybe someone who can see the ball as they swing through the K zone, but the options were slim, plus I don't think anyone would argue that we needed some power. This may be just a gut feeling, but I don't think for a second that Jimmy is done dealing...

I'm With Ya

I'm with you, jkip. I still think this is a good team that's going to contend for the pennant.
