5-for-5 for Fontenot
Mike Fontenot entered tonight's game hitting a nice .345 in 62 plate appearances. A 5-for-5 performance later, and he was up to .397. Fontenot's five hit game was the second of the year for the Cubs. He joins Alfonso Soriano, who performed the feat earlier this month on June 4. The last time the Cubs had two players get five hits in a game during the same season was 2004, when Derrek Lee (twice) and Corey Patterson did it. Mike Fontenot on my favorite player list
I think Mike Fontenot is getting added to my favorite player list.
You're welcome to check out his Iowa Cubs minor league stats page here.
He celebrated his birthday as a new Chicago Cub. That must've been quite a day.
