Minor League Roundup: April 20, 2005

Peoria throws a 10-inning combined no-hitter.

ICubs win 5-2. Their 5th straight victory after they opened the season playing like they'd never win. Todd Wellemeyer had a decent outing, throwing 4 innings and allowing 1 run, while stiking out 4 and walking 2. Iowa broke a 2-2 tie with 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, keyed by RBI singles by shortstop Ronny Cedeno and first baseman Micah Hoffpauir. Will Ohman pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

Peoria wins 3-2, as three Chiefs' pitchers combine for a 10-inning no-hitter. Starting pitcher Sean Gallagher went 6 innings, Walt Nolen went 3, and Jon Hunton pitched the 10th. Both runs given up were scored off Gallagher and were the result of a walk by Gallagher, two errors by shortstop Jose Rios and a couple of stolen bases. Gallagher struck out 8, Nolen struck out 5 more in his 3 perfect innings, and Hunton stuck out the side in the 10th. Both Eric Patterson and Sam Fuld got scheduled nights off.
