I Saw #754

DSC02265

35 rows up in the lower box at AT&T Park, for one night, I became a Giants fan, high-fiving everyone around me.

Perhaps more later . . .

Okay... great...

That must have been fun. So, how about them CUBS? How 'bout looking into trades or project Murton, Pie, Patterson, Soto, or Coats? I don't know, talk about the season we're having... You have an outstanding opportunity to bring together a community of Cubs fans and discuss the current happenings with the greatest team. Can you tell I can't stand Barry?

Bonds

Come on, now, it's a historic event. If I still had a blog, and got a chance to see one of Barry's homers, I'd write about it, too.

And I don't have a problem with Bonds. The evidence against him seems inconclusive at best, and downright speculative at worst. I say best of luck to him, provided that he breaks the record before August 21.

RE: Bonds

My thoughts exactly.

A few more thoughts on the game:

--Barry Zito looks terrible. He threw a lot of fastballs, which was strange because he made some hitters look foolish on his curve, he throws his fastball 85mph, and he can't locate it.

--Giants fans love Bonds. Each at-bat was a celebration. It was neat to see, and it'll be too bad if he breaks the record on the road. The whole stadium booed after his last four plate appearances, in which the Marlins' pitchers walked him.

--Miguel Cabrera really has gotten large. His lack of mobility now even seems to affect his throwing, as he appears to be short-arming throws. Of course, he can still knock the cover off of the ball.

--AT&T Park is a great place to watch a game.

AT&T Park

AT&T Park has been near the top of the "need-to-visit" list since it opened, probably second behind PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, however, it is in San Francisco, and I am in Dallas. Someday I'll have the occasion to go - I did get to Petco Park a couple years back, which is equally impractical for me, so these things can happen.

Also, I'm glad to hear that SF fans are so squarely in Bonds' corner. It was moderately shameful for me to hear Cubs fans boo Sammy Sosa in Arlington earlier this year.

Glad you had fun - sounds like a cool night to have experienced.
