Leave the Man Alone!

I heard Boers and Bernstein critcizing Comcast for electing not to show the video taken of Kerry Wood on the rampage after being taken out of the game the other night. Does the media have to cover every darn thing? Do I really need to see Kerry Wood destroying things? Is that really news? Isn't he entitled to some privacy? It seems to me that Comcast made the right decision not to air this. We don't need to see every darn thing that these guys do. He is entitled to have his own temper tantrum. Truthfully, he was right to be upset. Making the same pitch to Dunn twice with predictable results was pretty dumb. He seems to not be able to get himself over the hump to be what he should be given the kind of stuff he has. Frustrating!

Now if he had been destroying Sammie's boom box- that might be different.

Kerry's Outburst

I recently read Moe Thacker's "Leave the man alone!" article and have only this to say. I agree with you on the fact that there are certain things that the media need not show on television. Media can be overplayed, but I have to disagree that Kerry's outburst was his prvate matter. I have watched the Cubs play day in and day out and it seems that the Great Kerry Wood has really been worshipped like a God but his performance is less than Godlike. Maybe we the fans need to see the true Kerry. Yes he was frustrated but he needs to keep outburst like that in the clubhouse and not on the field. Perhaps seeing how childish he looked may change the way he handles himself. As far as that play that got him removed from the game I think of it this way, he is paid alot money to pitch a good game not to make the same mistake twice.

Kerry's blowup

I agree with most of what u say. Kerry may never be what it seems he could be. Maybe when we trade him (which I'd have no problem doing - his physical ailments wnd salary would make this difficult). Cub fans know this story all too well. I just don't really think it is newsworthy when goes nuts in the locker room. These guys deserve some zone of privacy. If you and I are frustrated with his seeming inability to learn how to pitch, he must be more frustrated. It seems you think that the humiliation of being exposed as acting like a jerk would make him realize that:
- he doesn't need to throw every ball as hard has he can - take a few mph off and emphasize location.
- think about who the batter is (as my post indicates I totally agree with your view of how he pitched to Dunn (maybe we could trade Kerry for him - he'd hit 50 in Wrigley)
- get ahead in the count
- mechanics could use a look
Something needs to happen with Kerry. He does have Cy Young stuff. But as Eddie Stanky said about Yaz "he's an all star from the neck down." Yaz got it together. Maybe Kerry can.
