Cubs Trade Rocky Cherry and Scott Moore for Steve Trachsel
The Cubs now have their starter for Game 2 of the September 15 doubleheader against St. Louis. And if they get into a one-game playoff at the end of the year. Here is the press release. Having Trachsel back eight years after he last pitched in a Cubs uniform is a little weird. For what it is worth, he posted a 2.37 ERA in 6 starts in August.

Trachsel
This is weird. Although I always liked Trachsel.
I didn't know the Cubs were in the market for a sixth starter. Especially since Sean Gallagher could certainly start a game if need be.
Wouldn't Cherry and Moore be more useful to the Cubs than Trachsel anyway?
I think the same, they are
I think the same, they are experienced players and I trust they do a good job, let's hope we won't get disappointed this season. Do you have any goos source for getting sports tickets, I wanna be prepared this time.
Re: Cubs Trade Rocky Cherry and Scott Moore for Steve Trachsel
I don't like this trade at all. I think it's mortgaging the Cubs future for something that isn't really needed. I like both Rocky Cherry and Scott Moore, and thought both of them would be big leaguers for the Cubs a lot longer than Trachsel is going to help the Cubs.
Cherry
I'm not concerned about the loss of Cherry. He's 28 and has a 4.59 ERA in AAA. He might be a serviceable reliever in the big leagues the next couple of years, but serviceable relievers are replaceable.
Moore's a decent hitter who strikes out a lot, and I'm guessing the Cubs didn't like the strikeouts.
What I don't quite understand is why it took both Cherry and Moore to get Trachsel for a month.
Minor League Free Agents
Were Cherry and Moore set to be MLFA's after the season? That might explain the trade. In any event, we really did not give up a whole lot.
