Piniella to the Yankees?
The Sun Times Chris De Luca seems to think so.
I personally think it's not likely, and I don't want to see Piniella go, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities. I could see the erratic King George trying anything that in his mind will make his team a winner, but the Yankees have other options more easily available to them at this point. However, if King George does come calling and Piniella indicates he has interest in the Yankees, then the Cubs should extract a price for it. The Yankees have the fifth best farm system in baseball according to Baseball America, and they are deep in pitching prospects, which has actually become a weak spot for the Cubs in recent years with the graduation of so many pitchers to the major league club. As for a potential managerial vacancy, Allan Trammel is already in house, and I think he is a better manager than his record in Detroit showed.
