Cubs 19 Brewers 5
I tried to record the 2am showing of the Chi Cubs 19, Milwaukee 5 game, but it was carried by ESPN and they for some odd reason blacked it out. ESPN did air it live (we're way outside of WCIU's broadcast area) but for some reason they didn't air it again at 2am, even though it was in the tv listings as such.
Perhaps they just couldn't squeeze 24 runs into 2 hours. I don't know.
We just started getting in ESPN in HD. Wow!
I can see the player's faces now. They have emotions! Imagine that.
The players look a lot thinner in HD too.
Here's a link to a review of the game and boxscore.
Here's the gameday page for that game.
Mark Cuban chose an ideal game to attend. He sat in the chair next to the one I had for the Ryan Sandberg ceremony.
The Tribune mentioned that he left in the 5th inning. How do you leave a game like this...with seats like that...in the 5th inning? I wonder if he was freezing..
You know what I'd like to see? Someone's scorecard from this game.
Hope someone posts a photo of their scorecard.
Diana
PS: The Cubs 100 year thing will be featured on the May 3, 2008 This Week in Baseball. It usually airs sometime before the game of the week on Fox.
Check your local listings.

19-5
I was fortunate enough to be at the game, but unfortunately I didn't keep score. On the bright side, though, the Cubs are 3-0 when I attend this year.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun. A lot of folks left after the stretch, but a very spirited crowd - the die-hards, I assume - remained for the last 6 runs in the eighth.
We were sitting a few rows behind the Brewers' bullpen. I figured Derrick Turnbow might be in for a long night when he was warming up. During one of his warmups throws, he airmailed the bullpen catcher by a couple of feet, and the ball rolled all the way to Henry Blanco behind the plate. This was while the bullpen catcher was standing up - he didn't start crouching until Turnbow was deeper into his routine.
As for HD, Comcast/WGN are broadcasting all Cubs games in HD this year. I guess most of those broadcasts are unavailable outside of the Chicago area. Having moved to Chicago during the offseason, however, I really could not be happier.
RE: 3-0
3-0, eh? Did you attend yesterday's 4-3 loss? If not, then I blame you for the defeat ;)
Congratulations on the move to Chicago! My goal is to someday live there for a summer and attend every (or just about every) home game.
re: 3-0
Nope, wasn't there yesterday. I was saddened by the loss, though, because my first two visits came at the beginning of 5- and 6-game win streaks, respectively. Three games and I already fear my touch is weakening!
Attending every game will remain a dream of mine, also, due to budgetary concerns. But I'm going to try to get to a game on every homestand. So far, so good, but I expect ticket availability to become more of an issue as the summer progresses.
I'm averaging 11 Cubs runs per game attended
19-5 - Now that's a game to attend!
I used to attend as many as 50 Cubs games a year.
Then I had a 20 year drought with no Cubs games in person.
I've since been to 3 Cubs games. You've probably viewed my photos from those games.

The Cubs won 14-3.

Sadly, the Cubs lost 15-7. That was the game where Farnsworth ummm, had some issues.

Your Cubs record is 3-0. You're doing better than I am.
Hey, did you see or meet that fellow in the seats next to the Cubs dugout?

re: that fellow
No, I had no idea he was there.
Going back a few years, the Cubs have actually won the last 5 games I've attended in person. Besides the three this season, there was one in Texas last season and then one in Houston in 2004.
I'm looking forward to tonight's game, also. The Cubs are 16-9 on my birthday, so I like their chances. Too bad they're not at home ... I briefly considered making the trip to Saint Louis but it wasn't in the cards (ha, ha).
