Minor League Roundup: April 28, 2005
McGlinchey gets promoted, then gets shallacked, Frese goes back on DL, West Tenn has 15 hits, and Peoria has just 2.
ICubs lose 14-1. Ouch. Bobby Brownlie gave up 8 runs in 5 innings. And then things got really bad. Kevin McGlinchey, who, as Cub Town notes, was just promoted from West Tenn, gave up 6 runs in 1.2 innings. At least Russ Rohlicek came in and threw 1.1 perfect innings, striking out 3. Rohlicek has yet to give up a run this year in 8.1 innings. In other Iowa moves, Nate Frese, who recently came off the DL, was put back on the DL. I have not seen an indication as to why.
West Tenn wins 5-4 in 11 innings. Federico Baez threw 3 shutout innings in relief to pick up the win. Felix Pie, Adam Greenberg, Matt Murton, Buck Coats, Ryan Theriot, and Jose Reyes all had multi-hit games. Pie added 2 walks and his 8th stolen base of the year.
Daytona wins 2-1. Billy Petrick was excellent, throwing 7 shutout innings on just 3 hits and no walks, striking out 6. First baseman Brian Dopirak went 2-4 with 2 RBI's.
Peoria loses 6-1. Starting pitcher Chris Shaver struck out 9 in 5.2 innings in the loss. Peoria managed just 2 hits.
