Derrek Lee in Two-Month Slump
Has anyone else noticed that Derrek Lee has been a not very good hitter for two months now? At the end of April, Lee was hitting .364/.437/.682 and looked like he did in 2005. Since then, he's hit .246/.303/.398. He has also hit into 17 double plays in that time frame. He only hit into 2 in April and has never before hit into more than 18 in a season. Lee is still hitting 3rd in the lineup. Unfortunately, the Cubs do not really have anyone else to put in that spot in the order.

Lee
Two more double plays today. Yikes.
Hate to say it, but Lee's 2005 looks like a clear aberration. He was never anywhere near that good before then, and he hasn't been since.
Incidentally, his numbers on the season before today's game (.290/.354/.502) are almost identical to his career numbers (.282/.367/.502). I don't really have any other point to make about that, but it seems worth pointing out.
RE: Lee
Yes, 2005 was an aberration that we're very unlikely to see again. But I'd take those career numbers with a little more consistency, and fewer double plays.
Lee Goes 5-for-5
Does mean that everytime I write that Derrek Lee is in a slump that he will go 5-for-5?
re: 5-5
Only one way to find out:
Ramirez has been in a bit of a slump over the last few days (0 for his last 10!). What are your thoughts on that?
