I have an odd issue here.
Sometimes our cable listings show more than one channel carrying the same Cubs game.
Now this really shouldn't be a problem, EXCEPT that usually one of those telecasts will be blacked out and I'm a time shifter.
Yep, I usually don't watch live television. I'm still very aware of the commercials and will rewind a show a bit to catch commercials with useful information or entertaining content.
Without time shifting it would be difficult to follow Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and all the available Cubs games and still somehow have a life.
My question is: Is the a pattern to which telecasts are most likely to not get blacked out?
I'm imagining a sort of Rock, Paper, Scissors thing (here we go again) but instead it is ESPN, MLB Network, WGN, Comcast.
(I don't think Fox National ever simucasts)
My guess is that if Comcast Sports Chicago airs a game, then the other Cubs telecasts will be blacked out. Chances are, the only time we'll see an Cubs game via ESPN is on Sunday night baseball.
WGN and Comcast tend to take turns, so that's not been an issue. We don't have a set Comcast Plus HD channel on our cable system, so I have no idea where to find it when the Cubs end up as a Comcast Plus game. The Comcast Plus games are still no-where to be found on the cable box tv listings.
You'll get a clue that one exists when you spot a 2am replay of an earlier game.
We still don't get in the MLB Network. Yes, I have the sports package, yes I subscribe to the HD package too, but still no MLB network. Since our Comcast is parting ways with the NFL network (which we do get in til the end of the month) perhaps they'll replace it with the MLB Network.
We'll see.
Feel free to reply and help me figure out this goofy situation.
Thanks!

telecasts

I think you have the basic scope of the situation correct. I don't know of any circumstances that would cause Comcast or WGN games to be blacked out, although I guess it depends on where you live. And like you say, the Sunday night games are likely the only Cubs telecasts on ESPN that wouldn't be blacked out.
I'm surprised that you don't have a Comcast+ feed if you have Comcast cable. Here in Chicago, they broadcast Comcast+ games in HD on channel 285, which is the Comcast Info Channel normally. The SD feed is on CLTV.
The MLB Network telecasts, like the Monday ESPN broadcasts, are non-exclusive, meaning that they'll be subject to local blackouts also. I'm also surprised that Comcast hasn't given you MLB Network (we have it on Comcast here in Chicago, and I don't even have the Sports Package), since Comcast has an ownership stake in the channel.
I hope they give it to you soon, since it's a great channel from what I've seen thus far. Their studio show is pretty good, and it's always nice to have the extra baseball games on TV.
I look for the MLB network almost every day

I look for the MLB Network almost every day with no success.
You'd think they'd at least put it in the clear for a little while to give folks a sample of it. If nothing else, it would increase potential viewers for their advertisers.

Comcast Plus in HD, CLTV and Cubs via On Demand

I hadn't thought of checking 285. Thought that was just a duplicate channel for Comcast HD in a higher channel allocation. It makes sense though. I'll try to check it next time we have a game on the Plus feed.
Sadly, we don't get CLTV on our Comcast channels.
We also don't get the Cubs games via OnDemand either.
I noticed the billboard promoting it outside of Wrigley Field during WGN's coverage of opening day and was reminded that Comcast doesn't make that available here. :(
Watch WGN news on Opening day

Be sure to watch WGN on Wrigley Field's Opening Day.
They tend to treat opening day as a major news event, which is really fun to watch, even with the rain delay.

They also have a news story about a Ronnie Woo Woo documentary DVD becoming available. Try a search on "WooLife" to find it.
PS: Amazon.com is offering the WooLife DVD for sale.

Thanks. I try to find pictures you haven't seen yet.
I used to go to a lot of Cubs games way back when.
I'm rather surprised that I didn't meet (or don't recall meeting) Bonnie Hunt at Wrigley back in the 70's and 80's.
I think we were going to the games around the same time.

Channel 285 via Comcast not Comcast SportsNet Plus

For some reason channel 285 via my city's version of Comcast is not the Comcast Plus network. It is just a repeat of the regular Comcast HD programs. If the Cubs are scheduled on the Plus network and the Hawks on the regular Comcast HD channel, we'll get the Hawks on both channels.
I've tried this at least twice with the same results.

That's too bad.
Do you get the WCIU games on your system?

Sadly, no WCIU games on our Comcast system either.
And we don't get in Chicagoland tv, which I really would like to see.
