Borowski Strikes Out Only Batter Faced
As scheduled, Joe Borowski pitched for Iowa tonight, the first time he has gone back-to-back in his rehab assignment. He struck out the only batter he faced, in the 7th inning, and the game was called due to rain after the top of the 8th with Iowa leading 13-0. MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reported today that "general manager Jim Hendry said he thought Borowski needed more innings and wasn't ready to be called up yet."

What this means is that the Cubs will continue to struggle in the 9th Inning and in extra innings. What Hendry really needs to do is go off the beaten path and implement the abolition of the closer and these other super-specialized reliever postings. He might also consider the proposal that Steve Stone made on WSCR some time ago for bringing back the 4-man rotation.
