Mitre Could Start Tuesday; & Is Walker On His Way to Chicago?
The Chicago Sun-Times reported today: "Sergio Mitre makes an important start today for Class AAA Iowa. If he pitches well, the Cubs might recall him to be their No. 5 starter Tuesday against Houston at Wrigley Field. Mitre would be on schedule with four days of rest after his start. But the right-hander has fallen short of expectations at Iowa, going 2-4 with a 5.31 ERA. The Cubs could consider recalling left-hander Rich Hill from Class AA West Tenn, where he has struck out 73 in 47 2/3 innings."
If Mitre's start really was an audition for Tuesday, he made the most of it. Mitre threw 6 shutout innings today, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 8.
The ICubs were playing Fresno, though. Fresno is 15th out of 16 teams in the Pacific Coast League in runs scored per game, 15th in BA, 16th in OBA and 14th in SLG.

In other news from the Iowa game today, Todd Walker did not play, raising the possibility that despite his 0-for-15 rehab, he will be recalled in time for tomorrow's game against the White Sox, as originally planned.
