Minor League Roundup: May 31, 2005

The minor league roundup returns after a month-long absence! Williams makes debut for Iowa; & Ryu wins for West Tenn.

ICubs lose 9-2. Starting pitcher Jerome Williams had a relatively successful debut, throwing 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits and 0 walks, striking out 4. He received little offensive support. Shortstop Ronny Cedeno went 2-4 to move his batting average to .380. Reliever Joe Dawley, recently acquired by Iowa, gave up 6 runs in 2 innings.

West Tenn wins 5-2. Jae-kuk Ryu earned the win, pitching 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Third baseman Matt Craig provided much of the offense, hitting 3 doubles.

Peoria loses 5-1. Matt Weber took the loss, going 6.2 innings while allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits and a walk. Centerfielder Sam Fuld went 2-3.

Daytona had the night off.
