I wonder ...

What would it take to get Adam Dunn from the Reds? And how much would it be worth?

Unlike Preston Wilson, Dunn is actually productive enough to be an upgrade for the Cubs. And he's only 25, so unlike Wilson, Dunn would be a good player to have around for a few years. And adding Dunn would solve another problem too; adding Dubois and Hollandsworth to the bench makes the bench look pretty good. And getting his sweet, sweet OBP into the lineup solves, or at least goes a long way toward solving, a third.

From my point of view, it makes perfect sense. So what would it take? Has Dunn's repeated criticism of the Cincinnati front office made his departure from there more urgent? They're pretty desperate for pitching; would a package of Wellemeyer, Mitre and, say, Russ Rohlicek get it done? Those are good players, but they're expendable for the Cubs. Would that be a deal worth making?

There's no way that Cincy wou

There's no way that Cincy would trade one of their most popular players to a division rival. Besides, Dunn has about 3 years of service at below market rates left to the Reds.

Dunn

Is Dunn really that popular in Cincy? I was under the impression that he's kinda viewed as damaged goods: too many strikeouts, low average, critical of management, etc.

I don't pretend to know for sure, but this article in the Enquirer today seems to show that the possibility exists.

Closed Window

Back before Miley was fired and Dunn was very unhappy there was a chance. But things have calmed in Cincy so it would be very difficult.
