Yes, the WGN program airs at the same time as the Comcast special. However, the Comcast special reairs at 11pm, so if you have just one vcr/Tivo, record the WGN at 6pm and the Comcast one at 11pm Central time. I'll have to watch the 11pm Comcast one via Tivo at another time so I can get enough rest for church on Sunday.

I'd also check WGN 9pm news on Saturday and Instant Replay on Sunday at 9:40 PM. They might also share some highlights from the event during the Arizona Diamondbacks/Chicago Cubs game on WGN Sunday starting at 1:00 PM.

Ryne Sandberg was painfully shy when he first joined the Cubs in 1982. It appeared would rather deal with a 98-m.p.h. fastball from Nolan Ryan than a softball question from the media.

But in the spring of 1985, the National League's reigning Most Valuable Player asked me to help him write his first autobiography--"Ryno"--revealing interesting tidbits about his childhood, personal interests and career goals. With Sandberg poised to be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday in Cooperstown, N.Y., here are several items you probably did not know about him--insight and anecdotes he probably will not include in his induction speech.

Trade wins

It's 1982 and a future Hall of Fame second baseman is a throw-in to complete a trade for Larry Bowa

You never know when a minor-league prospect is going to get thrown into a major deal. Many of them remain in obscurity.

That's why when the Cubs traded shortstop Ivan DeJesus to Philadelphia for 36-year-old shortstop Larry Bowa on Jan. 27, 1982, it was difficult to assess the deal immediately. Also included in the trade was young prospect Ryne Sandberg.

In this case, the minor-leaguer didn't land in oblivion. He wound up in the Hall of Fame.

You're right! I forgot, opening day for the lights was initially on 8/8/88 , would should've made it easy to remember for trivia questions like this one. :)
